Green becomes more clear. Three days after the European election, in France, placed Europe ecology lists at the level of those of the Socialist Party with more than 16 of the votes cast, the analysis of the results to better understand the reasons for this breakthrough unprecedented political ecology. First, remember how forbearance relativizes the lessons of this election. It is a distorted electoral body which is expressed (the more politicized, the most sensitive issues...). This reserve made two series of explanations to illuminate the detonating success of Europe ecology. The first consists of superficial reasons, the second of deeper determinants.
Among the immediate causes, that comes first to mind is that Daniel Cohn-Bendit has conducted a good campaign. It's never a guarantee of success, but it never saw success built on a bad campaign. His own really started late March - early April. Environmental leaders were then alone, with François Bayrou, to be heard. Itself anchored in a European movement, environmentalist training has to immediately positioned on the election-specific themes: a good element of identification, including a Modem having abandoned the environmental niche, saturated with the antisarkozysme issue.

The campaign of Europe ecology was consistent in the long term from an electorate which is massively, and much more than others, based on European issues. A dynamic moved note Brice Teinturier, Deputy General Manager of TNS Sofres. As soon as the first wave of surveys, Cohn-Bendit lists were credited to a two-digit score. CSA conducted Sunday poll also shows that the ecologist vote was a choice for the first time or a choice of the last moment: nearly half of the voters of Europe ecology, instead of a quarter on average, stopped their vote in the days preceding the election. Here is the effect of a successful campaign. Another index of its impact, and limitations: 28 of French voters surveyed by CSA found "good" interventions by Daniel Cohn-Bendit. This is better than Xavier Bertrand but less although Martine Aubry...
Another business cycle explanation comes the errors and weaknesses of competitors. According to TNS Sofres, François Bayrou saw out Europe ecology 20 of its voters in the first round of the presidential 2007. The porosity has been more marked still with the PS: a quarter of the voters of Ségolène Royal headed lists Cohn-Bendit. The breakthrough of ecologists is drawn in a configuration which, almost everywhere in Europe, has served the social democratic parties and it is dubbed in France, of an incompetent leadership. From this point of view, the situation is not comparable with that prevailing in 1989: When Green had exceeded 10 in the European, the PS was still 23. If one adds the almost reconstituted unit of the green family, these reasons provide circumstantial explanations to the breakthrough of political ecology.
More structural is successful between a triple concern, environmental, social and ethical synthesis. These dimensions are carried by three figures of Europe ecology, Yannick Jadot, Daniel Cohn-Bendit and Eva Joly, whose obsessive fight against tax havens extends environmental ethics in the financial field. Thus, this trend is not just that of a reawakening of ecological awareness is, also, the success of hearing of the film Yann Arthus-Bertrand, "Home" This would reduce the phenomenon of Europe ecology that back to a simple green thrust.
All that it represents a new political outcome to the social crisis that, precisely, could not wear the extreme left. "Europe ecology proposes another company but change smoothly, less radical than that proposed by an Olivier Besancenot," analysis Francois Miquet-Marty, Associate Director of Viavoice. Far from scaring as the leader of the NPA, Daniel Cohn-Bendit attracted voters, often very young, "who want real change, but not great evening." Even if its supporters are strong in the upper socio-professional categories and city dwellers, it still brings 13 of the workers. Vote Europe ecology, it is this revolution in green slippers, well exemplified by the old leader of may 68, which no one expected today what it reverses the system. Daniel Cohn-Bendit, he seeks especially to theorize the invention of a new party policy, which would make no party policy. A light structure, including political scientist Edouard Lecerf rightly points out is an asset in an election to a tower without issue of power, but a likely disability in our institutional system, which imposes alliances and compromise.
